Power & Vaulting with Olympic Gymnast Marian Dragulescu

Marian Drăgulescu is a Romanian artistic gymnast and is known as one of the most powerful vaulters in the world. He has won an impressive 31 medals at Olympic Games, World Championships or European Championships, of which eight are gold medals at the World Championships. He excels in vault and floor, on which he is a multiple World Champion and Olympic medalist. This week on The RoeShow, Marian and I discuss several different topics about gymnastics, but mainly we focus on biomechanics and how he created his signature vault. Marian also gives us his perspective about training methodology and what makes a great gymnast.

Marian's name will remain in gymnastics history not only because of his world titles on floor (2001, 2002, 2006, 2009) and vault (2001, 2005, 2006, 2009), but also because of the extremely difficult vault named after him: a Handspring Double Front Somersault with a ½ turn; or the "Drăgulescu" as it's now called. He is also an excellent all-around gymnast, an event in which he was a European Champion (2004) and Bronze medalist (2000) and in which he placed 8th at the 2004 Olympic Games. With multiple Olympic and World medals, he is an athlete that truly understands what it takes to be successful.
